Former Tesco chief takes stake in 'Spotify for textbooks' platform Perlego

As reported by Sky News UK, the former chief executive of Tesco, Sir Terry Leahy is leading a $20 million fundraiser for the Perlego e-textbook platform. Perlego have stated that the new funding will be used to further “extend Perlego’s international presence” as well as for new product development.
According to the same article, Perlego has also received a commitment to new funding from ITHAKA, the company behind the JSTOR platform.
Investment being led by an individual with as high a profile as Leahy can be seen as a major statement of intent on behalf of Perlego to further move into the academic textbook market.
